The wall thickness of a cassette shell half (5) is partially small since a recess (8) is made in the external surface (5a) of the shell half (5). The recess (8) is closed with a hard plate-like member (9), and a label attached part is provided on the external surface of the member (9). Therefore, the weight of the cassette shell of a magnetic disk cartridge is reduced and the productivity and quality of the cassette shell is improved.
