Brake assist control (BA control) is executed to generate a brake liquid pressure for generating a greater brake force than at the time of normal state when an emergency braking operation is judged to be performed by a driver. In the case where executing requirements for ABS control are met (step 100) and an absolute value of lateral acceleration Gy exceeds a predetermined value K (step 102), BA control is inhibited for rear wheels and a great brake liuid pressure is supplied only to front wheels. In this case, since reduction in cornering forces on the rear wheels, accompanying execution of BA control is suppressed, a tendency for oversteering is suppressed.
