The carrier has a drawer hanger with a slidable drawer (C). The hanger is formed as a flat rectangular box with a base and a cover through which air may pass. The hanger can be pushed into the frame and is fastened to it at an angle. The sides of the hanger and the rear side of the box have long holes (H) for the cables. The front of the hanger has a recess corresponding to the dimensions of the drawer. The drawer is a flat rectangular box with a closed front and base. The back and side walls have long holes for the cables. The base of the drawer is open such that heat can be conveyed away. Catches for cables and fibres are arranged at the back of the base of the drawer. Also on the base of the drawer are hinge type restraining elements for holding bundled fibres down and a standard threaded bolt (F) for glass fibre splice cassettes (E).
