APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATED FABRICATION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECTS, AND ASSOCIATED METHODS OF USE

An apparatus for fabricating three-dimensional objects using computer-controlled rapid prototyping techniques is provided. The apparatus comprises a system whereby the object is fabricated by selectively exposing a layer of a photopolymerizable composition to actinic radiation using a selective photoexposure means comprising a digital micromirror device ("DMD") for digital light processing ("DLP") projector, a liquid crystal display ("LCD") projector, an optical system for laser scanning, or a source of actinic radiation and an LCD panel displaying a computer-generated electronic mask. The photopolymerizable composition comprises a photopolymer or a high-loading ceramic or metal dispersion which, upon solidification, provides the desired structural object. Methods for forming three-dimensional objects using the apparatus are also provided.
