<p>A water treatment plant has a basin (9) in which sludge floats on the surface and migrates to a surrounding collection gully (1). The sludge gully (1) is linked to a pump box (2) and a float device (7) in the basin's (9) liquid (21). The basin (9) has an overflow gully rim (11) which can be raised or lowered in accordance with liquid level (22). The novelty resides in the following: (a) the rim height control parameter used is the fluid level (22) within the pump box as provided by the mixture of sludge and water (21) collected from the gully (1); (b) the sludge gully (1) is linked by a control assembly (3, 5, 5, 6; 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106; 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208) to the float (7), such that when the fluid level rises in the pump box (22) the rim (11) is raised, and is lowered as the level falls in the pump box (7); (c) the rim (11) setting is varied by a beam (3) at one end (32) of which is a rod (6) fixed to a float (7); (d) the other end (33) of the beam (3) has an L-shaped gully support rod (5) with an L-section (52), whose other L-section is joined to the sludge gully (1); (e) the first height-adjustment unit (4) is located at the fulcrum (31) between the two ends (32, 33).</p> |
