This invention concerns an electrical apparatus in the form of a surge arrester (AR, AS, AT) which contains a sensor for capture of the position of a movable part of the apparatus and means for connecting an optical waveguide (L) for carrying a signal emitted from the sensor to the central evaluation device (AW) upon a change of position in the movable part. The sensor is constructed out of section (LA) of optical waveguide (L) which leads to the electrical apparatus. It is affixed to the electrical apparatus in such a way that it is destroyed after a change in position of the moveable part and thereby transmits a warning signal to the central evaluating device (AW). |
