Dual-purpose automatic and manual gearbox selector unit

The gearshift assembly allows both fully automatic and manual selection of the individual gear ratios. The gear selector assembly has a swivel pin (1), and a selection pin (2) which is positioned orthogonal with respect to the swivel pin. A gear selection lever (3) swivels about both pins, a transmission shaft (4) and a selector-lever lock (5). The gear selector assembly and swivel pin are installed in a housing (6) rigidly fixed to the vehicle bodywork or chassis. A pick-up attachment (7) for the transmission shaft within the housing, can be detached from the gear selector lever with selector axis. When the gears are manually operated, the linkage between the selector lever and the shaft pick-up attachment fills the gap in the automatic lever guide grid. The pick-up attachment is fabricated from sheet metal.
