Orientation indicator using optical fibre esp for motor vehicle

Orientation indicators using optical fibres have in an optical fibre (1), at least two LEDs (2) at opposite ends. The normal light conducting function is changed so that on the longitudinal surface of the conductor, which normally is located on a carrier (6) with a groove, by structural changes like sand-blasting, roughening, or stamping, light outlets are formed which take the shape of dashes, lines, curves, points or symbols (4). With increasing length of conductor, the radiation from either LED becomes lower and the light loss is compensated by the LED at the other end. The conductor can be made of flexible material or of rigid light- transmitting material. The LEDs are screened and can be supplied by batteries.
