<p>A core (90) or a core shaft (24) is formed from a plurality of identical, extruded pieces (26). Each piece has complementary grooves (60, 62) on opposite sides, so that the pieces (26) interlock. Each piece (26) extends the length of the core (90) or core shaft (24). The pieces (26) are held together by a series of pins (74) and are connected to a core shaft journal (22) or a core cap by a series of screws (46) that fit into receptacles (48, 50) in the pieces (26). When used as a core shaft (24), each piece (26) includes a channel (80) for a bladder (28).</p> |
