The invention concerns a method for producing a multi-purpose road safety device for absorbing shocks between road vehicles and fixed set obstacles such as trees, posts, pylons, bridge piers, walls perpendicular to the traffic flow, and other snares such as steep embankments, ditches, fencing wall, rivers, canals, ponds or lakes, using stacks of used tyres. It is characterised in that it consists in producing, at least partially in front of a supporting or anchoring element (F), or even in front of an isolated obstacle, a continuous pneumatic rampart: made up of bands of cut up tyres or rings, or of whole tyres stacked vertically or edgewise, and in that each band, stack of tyres or ring of tyre stacks, bagged or not, is interlocked four times: two by two tyres in each stack (10), three times; each entire stack of tyres (12), three times; each stack with the adjacent one(s) (13), these three interlocking being done by means of strong cables sheathed in plastic; and finally by means of horizontal and parallel steel wires (15) for securing the assembly of interlocked stacks on tyres arranged edgewise around the stacks, the wires being mutually interlocked (8) and interlocked with each stack in the rampart thus constituted, thus walling in each interval of a line of about ten trees. In places where there is no safety structure in front of the snare or ravine, a support, on which said rampart will be supported should be previously constructed.
