<p>A dental amalgam mixing capsule (10) including an inner capsule (14) formed by an elongated pestle (24) telescopically extended into an open ended cap (26) including a resilient, annular skirt (34) formed with an annular sealing lip (42) sized for releasable sealing engagement with the pestle (24) to define a storage chamber therebetween for storing a liquid component of the amalgam. The inner capsule (14) may be made by subjecting the cap (26) to a partial vacuum, inserting a charge of such liquid component therein, and registering one end of such pestle (24) in sealing engagement with such sealing lip (42). Thus, when the assembly is returned to atomospheric pressure, the partial vacuum trapped in the cap will provide for a pressure differential across the pestle (24) drawing it into the cap (26) to fill the space therein.</p> |
