Insulation material is made by mixing together organic and/or inorganic particles with water glass. The initial moisture of the particles is less than 20%, esp. less than 12% and the ratio of particles to waterglass in wt.% is 1:0.4-1.5, esp. 1:0.4-0.6. The mixture is subjected to a current of CO2 either in a heated condition or in the presence of a heated gas to harden the formed component. The organic components are ligno and/or cellulose-contg. partiles which are heated and pressed together to form a compacted part which has a continuous porous structure which enables the CO2 to pass through it. The organic particles are mill turnings, wood fibres, grass, flax, straw, bagasse, cotton threads etc. with length of 4-100 mm, esp. 4-50 mm. Water glass is pref. Na water glass with a grading of upto 60 Baume or K waterglass. A pref. mixt. is wood fibre and waterglass in a ratio of 1:1 which is dry compacted to 60 kg/m3. USE/ADVANTAGE - As insulation walls in house. The final part is produced in an economic manner in a short treatment time.
