An end-to-end ubiquitous payload delivery system (12) and method transfers a payload (102) using multiple communication method following rules established by a sender (34). The payload transfer is attempted using a preferred media (e-mail) until the parameters of the transfer are exceeded (i.e., a certain number of attempts in a given duration of time), after which one or more alternative media (FAX, Voice Mail, etc...) are used until the payload (e-mail) transfer is completed. Prior to the completion of the transfer, the sender (34) has the capability of querying the payload delivery system (12) to determine the status of the payload (e-mail). Upon completion of the delivery, the sender (34) receives notification.
