<p>A vehicle ramp comprising a support from a having a lengthwise extending supporting surface and, on its underside, a generally convex ground-engaging surface about which the support frame can move from a tilted position to a generally horizontal position. Means (14) are provided for resisting movement of the support frame as the frame is tilted between these two positions, these means comprising a ground engaging member (16) positioned between the ground engaging surface of the ramp and the elevated end of the ramp when in its tilted position and mounted for rotation at one of its ends to the support frame about a generally horizontal axis which lies in a direction generally normal to the lengthwise supporting surface of the ramp. A torsion unit (14) is provided which cooperates with the ground engaging member to resist and thereby control rotational movement of the ground engaging member as the ramp moves from its tilted position to its generally horizontal position.</p> |
