The detector has a step recovery diode connected in parallel via coupling capacitors with a series circuit of at least two diodes. A balanced transformer is provided with which the step recovery diode (SRD) is used to provide a reference signal. An input signal can be supplied to the diodes via a decoupling network. An output signal can be taken via the network, which corresponds to the phase difference between the input signal and the reference signal. Decoupling resistors (Rs1,Rs2) are provided in the line from the balanced transformer (Tr) to the step recovery diode (SRD). The size of the decoupling resistors (Rs1,Rs2) is selected such that interfering resonances or reflections between the balanced transformer (Tr) and the step recovery diode (SRD) are damped.
