The counter is accommodated in a main casing (19) with a display unit (7) in an add-on casing (10) which also contains a transmitter (1). A transfer unit (3) transfers the measured values to the transmitter. The display is of a standard type used for flow counters accommodated in a section (A) of the add-on casing with the transmitter in a second section (B) as a separate module to the display. The transfer unit connected to the transmitter is located in the boundary area (24) between display and transmitter projecting into the existing free space (21) in the first casing section
