Rescue device for use in private swimming baths

The rescue device has a cover sheet for the swimming pool which is motorised to vary its tension. One side of the cover sheet or of a support for the cover sheet is connected to a motorised reel. The other side is fastened to the opposing side of the pool. The cover has a higher specific gravity than the water, or is weighted. There is a sensor to detect when a swimmer is in distress, which actuates the cover reel motor to wind up the cover sheet. The cover sheet is tensioned to support the swimmer on top of the water.
