A car headlamp has a cup-shaped housing Ä1Ü with a reflector Ä4Ü and a lens Ä2Ü sitting on the front edge of the housing. At least one section of the lens is formed by an outer side wall section Ä6Ü of the housing, running towards the inside of the headlamp in a retracted fashion. The side wall section runs transversely to the light direction. The retracted side wall has a first flat section Ä8Ü directed inwards, running almost flush with the inner surface of the reflector. There is a second flat section Ä10Ü pointing inwards that goes round the back of the reflector. The outer side wall section of the reflector housing runs in a retracted fashion towards the front of the lens.
