PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an inner shaft from rattling at a sliding connection in a steering shaft that can be contracted in the longitudinal direction of its axis during the accident of a vehicle such as collision and to allow the steering shaft to operate stably during contracting movement while guiding the movement of the inner shaft in the direction of the axis by packing a sliding resin member in the sliding connection. SOLUTION: At the sliding connection A3 between an outer shaft A1 and an inner shaft A2 which are slidably splined to each other, the inner shaft A2 comprises a shank 3 and an outer splined part 4 which extend in the longitudinal direction of its axis. A locking part 5 is formed on at least either the outer splined part 4 or the shank 3. At the sliding connection A3 , a sliding resin member 6 is packed between an opening in the outer shaft A, and the locking part 5 of the inner shaft A2 . |
