摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonasbestos friction material high in thermal conductivity, porosity and mechanical strength by laminating a first layer composed of cotton and a filler substance to a second layer comprising a high strength fiber having high temperature resistance, a filler and/or friction controlling particles into a composite material. SOLUTION: A double-layer fibrous base comprises a first layer composed of 50-75% of cotton and 25-50% of a filler substance such as diatomaceous earth or silica or 40-50% of cotton, 30-50% of a filler substance and 10-20% of glass fiber and a second layer comprising a high-strength fiber having high- temperature resistance, a filler and/or friction controlling particles such as a combination of aramid pulp, aramid fiber and silicon nitride particles or a combination of aramid pulp, aramid fiber and carbon fiber and the second layer amounts to about 2-50% of the total thickness of the double layer. The double layer fibrous base is impregnated with 35-65wt.% of a phenol-based resin, an epoxy/phenol modified resin or a modified silicone resin to give the objective nonasbestos friction material.</p>
