The sound reproduction system for vehicles uses piezoelectric actuators. These actuators (7) are fixed to door panels (4) and the roof (5) of the vehicle. They are fixed to the outer flexible panels of the vehicle which typically have inner rigid plastic panels. The actuators are connected to drive units (9,10) connected to the sound producing source, e.g. radio, tape or CD player. The actuators are preferably fixed to a curved panel and are extremely rigidly attached to the panel. A microphone (13) can be included in the system to allow the driver to generate sounds outward of the vehicle.
