PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition which is excellent in resistance to heat, moldability, fluidity, resistance to hydrolysis and mechanical properties by formulating a specific liquid crystal polyester and a polyphenylene sulfide treated with an acid or boiling water. SOLUTION: This thermoplastic resin composition comprises 50-99wt.% of a liquid polyester which contains the structural units of formulas I-III and the formula: -(O-X-O)- (X is formula IV, -CH2 CH2 -), has a heat distortion temperature of 190-280 deg.C, the liquid crystal-starting temperature of <=330 deg.C, a melt viscosity of <=10,000 poise and forms anisotropic melt phase and (B) 1-50wt.% of acid- and/or boiling water-treated polyphenylene sulfide. The component (A) is desirably prepared by reacting an aromatic dihydroxy compound, for example, p-hydroxybenzoic acid or hydroquinone and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid with acetic anhydride to effect acylation of the phenolic hydroxyl groups followed by deacetylative polycondensation reaction. In order to improve the mechanical properties of the composition, an olefinic polymer, a thermoplastic polyester or the like may be formulated thereto. |
