<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid golf ball which is excellent in flying performance along with a better ball hitting touch. SOLUTION: In the production of a solid golf ball having a core and a cover, the core 1 after a crosslink molding is treated by a sol-gel method to generate silica particles (a) at least on the surface part of the core 1 so that the silica particles (a) are contained at least in the surface part of the core 1. In the treatment of the core 1 by the sol-gel method, the core 1 after the crosslinking treatment is dipped into a metal alkoxide such as tetraethoxysilane. Thereafter, water is added and hydrolysis of the metal alkoxide and subsequent copolymerization of a hydroxy group are caused thereby generating the dispersed state of the silica particles (a) on the surface part of the core 1.</p> |
