INK JET RECORDING INK AND RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ink exhibiting high absorptivity at a specific wavelength and giving a water-resistant image having high image density by using C.I. solubilized Sulfur Black and a specific diazo compound as dyes. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording ink comprising a dye and water as main components, C.I. solubilized Sulfur Black and a diazo compound expressed by the formula [A and B are each the formula COOR (R is H, quaternary ammonium, an alkali metal, ammonium or alkanolamine) or the formula SO3 R; X is H or CH2 COOH; Y is H, quaternary ammonium, an alkali metal, ammonium or alkanolamine] are used as dyes and these compounds are mixed with an ion exchange water, then dissolved at room temperature under stirring, thus pH is adjusted to 10.5 and filtered to obtain the objective ink jet recording ink exhibiting high absorptivity to light having wavelength of >=700nm, having high image density in visible region and capable of forming an image having excellent water resistance.
