PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heat-decompose a waste plastics while dispersing a heat decomposition catalyst easily and uniformly in the waste plastics by melt-kneading the catalyst and a thermoplastic resin, adding the resultant mixture to the waste plastics, and subjecting the entire mixture to heat decomposition by melt kneading under heating. SOLUTION: In a method for heat-decomposing a waste plastics in the presence of a heat decomposition catalyst, a masterbatch prepared by melt-kneading the catalyst and a thermoplastic resin is added to the waste plastics, and the resultant mixture is heat-decomposed by melt-kneading under heating. Thus, the waste plastics can be heat-decomposed. The heat decomposition catalyst used is desirably a solid acid catalyst, especially desirably a silica/alumina-base solid acid. The solid acid is exemplified by crystalline silica/alumina (zeolite), amorphous or lowly crystalline synthetic silica/alumina, a mineral such as alumina or allophane, or aluminum-free zeolite Y. |
