PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject medicine capable of suppressing synthesis of a specific heat shock protein in a cell, suppressing synthesis of collagen in organs and effectively treating hepatocirrhosis, interstitial lung disease, etc., by including magnolol as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This medicine contains magnolol as an active ingredient. Magnolol is included in a crude medicine such as Magnoliae Cortex. Magnoliae Cortex extract containing magnolol can be obtained by extracting Magnoliae Cortex with water (e.g. cold water, warm water or hot water) or an organic solvent. Magnolol specifically suppresses synthesis of a heat shock protein having 47K dalton molecular weight in a cell and suppresses biosynthesis of collagen. Thereby, the medicine can be used for preventing or treating diseases exhibiting a morbid state accelerating production of extracellular matrix accompanying increase of collagen. |
