PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an external preparation for skin which contains an extract from a specific plant, shows excellent elastase-inhibitory action and can prevent skin from aging. SOLUTION: This external preparation for skin contains one or more of extracts from plants growing in Indonesia, Seprantu and Sdemo diluwih. The amount of the extract is 0.0005-20wt.%, preferably 0.001-10wt.% on the dry basis. The extract is obtained by soaking or extracting leaves, stems, flowers, barks, seeds, fruits or the whole plant body in or with an organic solvent under reflux with heat, filtering the extract solution followed by concentration through solvent evaporation. The extract is prepared in ointment, cream, milk emulsion, lotion, pack or bath medicine. This cosmetic suppresses the activity of elastase to restore or maintain the tension and the elasticity of the skin whereby the skin is prevented from aging and kept youthful. |
