PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plate cylinder having a groove cover for a print foil to pass the gap between the cover and a groove edge without damage. SOLUTION: The plate cylinder for a printer comprises a print foil 5 spread on an overcoating surface of the cylinder, an end of which foil 5 is fixed to a supply side reel 4 and a take-up side reel 3 for the foil 5 in the cylinder. The cylinder has a groove extended in a direction of a generant of the overcoating surface. The foil 5 is guided into the cylinder over its groove edges 14, 15, and further the groove is closed by cover members 8, 13. At least one hold- down roller 18 is provided at the members 8, 13. The roller 18 is brought into contact with the foil removed over the edges 14, 15 from the interior of the cylinder. |
