PIGMENT DISPERSION AND COATING AGENT COMPOSITION USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersion capable of improving fine dispersion stability even in high pigment concentration in a water-insoluble pigment. SOLUTION: This pigment dispersion comprises a pigment, a pigment dispersant and optionally a binder resin. The dispersant comprises at least 0.2 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the pigment of a graft copolymer as the pigment dispersant having 3,000-100,000 weight-average molecular weight obtained by copolymerizing 10-90mol% of an aromatic vinyl compound not containing an active hydrogen with 10-90mol% a compound obtained by adding 1-100mol of an alkylene oxide to an active hydrogen group of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer containing the active hydrogen to which the alkylene oxide can be added and 0-80mol% of another ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The pigment dispersant may be obtained by adding 1-100mol of the alkylene oxide to the active hydrogen group of the copolymer composed of the aromatic vinyl compound, the active hydrogen group-containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer and another ethylenic unsaturated monomer.
