PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile automatic-transmission indicator which promptly shows the driver the state of the transmission without diverting the driver's attention from driving. SOLUTION: An indicator 16 is provided for an automatic transmission 2 of an automobile which permits preliminary selection of the automatic transmission 2 into an automatic shift gear P, R, N, D or the like by the longitudinal shift motion of a selector lever 20 within a first shift gate 21, and manual selection of the transmission 2 into a shift gear I, II, III or IV by the shift motion of the selector lever 20 within a second shift gate 22 where the shift motion of the selector lever 20 within the second shift gate 22 in one direction toward '+' or in the other direction toward '-' effects upshift or downshift respectively. The automobile automatic-transmission indicator 16 comprises an indicator element 17 for automatic shift gears and an indicator element 18 for manual shift gears, and the indicator element 18 for manual shift gears indicates an every selected shift gear. |
