A set of fins for aquatic use provides improved propulsion, lift, and stability. The fins are worn radially, typically on either the arm or the leg. Each fin is characterized by a stiff forward portion and a flexible rearward portion. The combination of the stiff and flexible portions produces a fin that propels the user with either a paddle or a flipper motion. The fins' stiff portions also can be oriented to resist lateral movement, lending stability to the user. Each fin is shaped as a hydrofoil and can be oriented to create lift forces to encourage the user's body to float higher in the water. Notches in the hydrofoil reduce turbulence and restore laminar flow.
