PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce carbon powder in an enhanced yield of carbon by dispersing and sticking fine powder of a metal oxide to powder of vinyl chloride resin or its copolymer and carrying out heat treatment and carbonization. SOLUTION: Fine powder of a metal oxide is dispersed and stuck to the surface of powder of vinyl chloride resin or its copolymer by >=0.01wt.% of the amt. of the resin, heat treatment and carbonization are carried out and then acid treatment is carried out if necessary. The shape of the resin is preferably powder and the particle diameter is preferably <=1mm. The metal oxide is preferably a fine metal oxide especially used as a pigment and the particle diameter is preferably <=10μm. A V-shaped mixer or a screw type mixer may be used as a dispersing means. The heat treatment is preferably carried out at about 200 deg.C as a flame retarding treatment temp. in the presence of oxygen (in air). The carbonization is carried out by heating to the desired carbonization temp. in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. |
