PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject medicine capable of specifically suppressing synthesis of a specific heat shock protein in a cell of a tissue exhibiting a morbid state and treating cancers, multiple sclerosis, etc., by including magnolol which is an ingredient of Magnoliae Cortex as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This medicine contains magnolol as an active ingredient. The magnolol is included in a crude medicine such as Magnoliae Cortex, which is a bark of Magnolia obovata Thunberg or Magnolia biloba (Rehd. et Wils.) Cheng. Since a material containing magnolol as an active ingredient is effective, crude extract of Magnoliae Cortex can be used. The extract of Magnoliae Cortex is obtained by extracting Magnoliae Cortex with water (e.g. cold water, warm water or hot water) or an organic solvent. Thereby, synthesis of heat shock protein having 16-40K dalton molecular weight in the cell can specifically be suppressed, the medicine can be used for treating and preventing a morbid state on which the protein is adversely influenced. |
