PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new dimeric compound, having cell adhesion activities and useful as a therapeutic agent and an improving agent, etc., for inflammations, ischemic reperfusion disorder, autoimmune diseases and canter metastasis by dimerizing N-substituted Lewis type saccharide chain derivatives with a spacer. SOLUTION: This new dimeric compound is represented by the formula (M-A-B)2 -X M is a glucosamine/glucose derivative (salt) represented by formula I [R<0> is H, OH or a group represented by NHYR<1> (Y is CO, SO2 CONH, COO, etc.; R<1> is a 1-6C alkyl, an aryl, etc.); either one of R<2> and R<3> isα- orβ-L-fucopyranosyl and the other is represented by formula II (R<4> is H, SO3 H, PO3 H2 , CH2 CO2 H, etc.)] and bonded through a reducing terminal thereof to A of a linker part of a spacer; A is O, COO, OCO, NR<6> (R<6> is H, an alkyl or an acyl), CONR<6> , etc.; B is a 1-15C bivalent group; X is a (substituted) bivalent ring structure} or the formula [M-A-(B-C)n ]2 X [D is the same kind as that of A; (n) is 1-10]. The compound is useful as a medicinal composition, etc.
