<p>A plant and a process for composting organic material (3), which plant comprises a number of material zones comprising a number of initial zones (4), a number of intermediate zones (5, 6) and a number of final zones (7) and wherein the material is subjected to a successive treatment, means for introducing the material into one or more of the initial zones, means for conveying the material from one material zone to another through the plant, means for removing the composted material from one or more of the final zones, means for aerating the material by drawing or blowing air through the material, and means for recirculating discharge air from a portion of the material to another portion thereof, each intermediate and final zone being in communication with separate air discharge ducts (18, 19, 21) and each initial zone being in communication with a separate air supply duct (20), and wherein the plant comprises means (22, 23) for conveying fresh air through one or more of the intermediate zones, means (22, 25) for conveying at least a portion of the discharge air from the intermediate zones through one or more of the initial zones for the heating thereof, means (24) for conveying discharge air from the intermediate and first zones through one or more of the final zones for the odour purification thereof, and means (24) for discharging discharge air from the final zones from the plant.</p> |
