<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a power factor improving capacitor from being short- circuited even if gas is generated from a compound due to temperature rise while suppressing temperature rise of the power factor improving capacitor and to prevent the overall weight and the cost of a ballast from increasing while enhancing the workability in the manufacture of the ballast. SOLUTION: A ballast body 2 is encased in a ballast case 1 and a compound 12 is provided around the ballast body 2 to fill the gap between the ballast case 1 and the ballast body 2 and then a power factor improving capacitor 3 is set in the ballast case 1. In such a ballast, the power factor improving capacitor 3 is secured at a position spaced apart from the compound 12 in the ballast case 1 and a member for requlating the movement of the compound 12 to the electric component 3 side is provided.</p> |
