PRODUCTION OF TONER COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly and profitably obtain a toner compsn. having superior dispersibility of a pigment and a narrow geometric size distribution by adding a pigment dispersed liq. to a latex mixture contg. sulfonated polyester resin particles in water, adding an alkali halide soln. and carrying out aggregation and integration by heating. SOLUTION: Sodium sulfonated polyester resin particles in water are heated to prepare emulsified latex. Sodium sulfonated polyester particles and a pigment are dispersed in water to prepare a pigment dispersed liq. This pigment dispersed liq. is added to a latex mixture contg. sulfonated polyester resin particles in water under shear and an aq. alkali halide soln. is added until aggregation is caused. Further aggregation and integration are carried out by heating the resultant mixture to obtain toner particles having about 4-9μm volume average diameter and a geometric size distribution of about <1.3.
