PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily design and manufacture an electric interpolation device by constituting part of an electric interpolation means so that a plurality of blocked circuit boards can be mounted on a different circuit board and making an interpolation value selectable in accordance with the number of the mounted circuit boards. SOLUTION: A phase shifting circuit 5 generates (m) sets of sine wave-like signals from two sine wave-like signals having phases of, for example, 0 deg. and 90 deg. from an encoder head HE and inputs the signals to (n) divided circuits boards 1-1 to 1-m. The circuit boards 1-1 to 1-m respectively generate rectangular wave signals having different phases obtained by dividing one period of an input signal by (n). Interpolation of 1/(n×m) is substantially realized by processing the rectangular wave signals by means of the logic circuit of an interpolation signal forming circuit 7. A detection circuit 6 outputs a select signal for selecting the interpolation signals corresponding to the number of existing n-divided circuit boards to an AND gate AN upon obtaining mounting detecting signals from the n-divided circuit boards. Therefore, the number of kinds of circuit boards can be minimized, because a selected interpolation signal is outputted from an OR gate OR and a plurality of divided circuit boards can be selected on a common circuit board.
