PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the waste of amount of light beam in the beam projecting/receiving path and also reduce the size of lateral arrangement structure of laser source in an optical pickup and light-projecting/receiving unit to be used for an optical disc such as CD, CD-ROM and LD(Laser Disc), etc., and a disc of a digital video disc(DVD) apparatus, etc. SOLUTION: The unit is located at the upper area of a light source to reflect the light emitted from the light source with a reflection type diffraction grating 2 and a reflecting member such as reflection mirror, etc. and projects the reflected beam to a disc 22 by reflecting it to the opposite side of the light source by means of a beam splitter 3. Only the transmitting beam of the beam splitter 3 among the reflected beam from the disc 22 is received by a receiving element. The light source and receiving element are arranged in the vertical direction for the disc 22 together with the reflection member and beam splitter 3. |
