PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively oxidize only a dielectric and then increase an insulation resistance by oxidizing a sintered compact at a temperature within a specified range in an atmosphere having the oxygen partial pressure of a specified value or above. SOLUTION: A multilayer ceramic sintered compact is constituted of a plurality of barium titanate dielectric ceramic layers and a plurality of base metal internal electrodes that are made of such base metals as Ni, Fe, Co, etc., that are stacked alternately through the dielectric ceramic layer. When the sintered compact is oxidized, it is oxidized in a pressure container which can be airtightly closed and whose oxygen partial pressure is kept at about 0.1MPa or above. The oxidation temperature is set at about 600-120 deg.C. By this method, the oxidation of only the dielectric is accelerated and thereby an insulation resistance of the dielectric can be increased. |
