PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode material by which a secondary battery having high charge discharge capacity can be obtained. SOLUTION: An electrode material to be used in a secondary battery, is composed of a heat-treated material obtained by performing heat treatment on a polymer (a conjugate ring polymer) obtained by polymerization causing cycliuzation reaction of a diacetylene compound monomer expressed by a formula R1 -C≡C-C≡C-R2 (R1 and R2 are an inorganic or organic atom or an atomic group) or an acetylene compound monomer expressed by a formula R3 -C≡C-R4 (R3 and R4 are an inorganic or organic atom or an atomic group. The heat treatment is performed at a temperature of 500 900 deg.C) in an inactive atmosphere.
