PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color liquid crystal display panel in which the number of displayable colors is abundant and which has a good color purity and in which a high duty is made possible by coloring a transmission light without using color filters and suppressing the coloring of white color. SOLUTION: This panel is constituted of a liquid crystal cell 1 constituted by interposing liquid crystal 6 between upper and lower substrates 2, 4 on whose counter surfaces transparent electrodes 3, 5 are formed, one pair of polarizing plates arranged across the liquid crystal cell 1 and a twist phase difference plate 9 arranged in between the liquid crystal cell 1 and the polarizing plate 7 of one side. In this case, the product ΔnLC.dLC between the optical anisotropy ΔnLC of liquid crystal 6 and the thickness dLC (μm) of the liquid crystal layer of liquid crystal 6 is made to in the range of 1.2μm-2.0μm by twistingly orienting molecules of liquid crystal 6 in between the upper and lower substrates by 180 deg.-260 deg. and the product ΔnTF.dTF between the refractive index anisotropy ΔnTF of the twist phase difference plate 9 and the plate thichness dTF of it is made to be ΔnLC.dLC-(0.1μm-0.4μm) of the liquid crystal cell 1 and the twist direction is made to be reverse to the liquid crystal layer of the liquid crystal cell 1. |
