PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of an image carrying belt, to stabilize change in sensitivity for the positional detection of an image carrying belt with time, and the correctly align a multicolor image. SOLUTION: The image forming device is equipped with an endless image- carrying belt 2 for holding and carrying an image formed by an image forming means 1 directly or via a recording medium, and a cleaning means 3 for cleaning away soil on the surface of the image carrying belt 2 in pressure-contact with the belt 2. In the image forming device, a photoreflector 4 for positional detection is provided in the edge of the surface or the image carrying belt 2, and also the edge of the surface of the image carrying belt 2 containing the photoreflector 4 is covered with a transparent of translucent film member 5 all round. Further, whole circumferential edge of the surface of the image carrying belt 2 in opposite side of the photoreflector 4 is covered with a dummy film member 6, which is the same as the film member 5. |
