摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent a battery from running out and to prevent the load from increasing due to overcharge of the battery, while enhancing fuel consumption. SOLUTION: An electronic control unit(ECU) 41 estimates the capacity of a battery 32 from the start to the end of running of a vehicle, based on the information of road conditions and an electric load and compares the estimated battery capacity with a full-charge capacity. When the battery capacity at the end of traveling of a vehicle is higher than the full-charge capacity, an idle speed control valve 11 is controlled so as to lower the idle r.p.m. Since the idle r.p.m. does not increase excessively during the travel from a current position to a goal, fuel is not fed excessively and undue charging is suppressed. On the contrary, when the battery capacity at the end of traveling of the vehicle is lower than the full charge capacity, the idle r.p.m. is increased and running out of battery due to lowering of battery capacity is also suppressed.</p>
