PRINT SYSTEM, PRINTER DRIVER, AND PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the total throughput of the print system without increasing the through put of a printer itself. SOLUTION: A printer driver 9 on a host computer 1 automatically selects the format of a plotting command outputted 3 when a print job is generated. There are two kinds of command format, i.e., a format described in a high-level printer control language [e.g. PDL(page description language)] and an intermediate code represented in an intermediate language. When the latter format is selected, the printer driver 9 converts a plotting command from an application 5 into the intermediate code and sends it to the printer 3. The printer 3 converts the intermediate code into an intermediate code exclusively used in the printer through extremely simple processing, and develops it into a bit image to perform printing processing at a high speed.
