摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously adjust the power factor of electric power system, without generating an excessive rush current and wastage of contact by connecting an electronic power factor adjusting apparatus in parallel with a load which apparatus consists of a voltage converting device, constituted of a semiconductor switch and a power factor adjusting load, and controlling the output voltage of the voltage converting device. SOLUTION: An electronic power factor adjusting apparatus 4, constituted of a single phase voltage converting device 5 and a power factor adjusting single phase load 6 is connected in parallel with a single phase load 3. The converting device 5 receives a voltage VRS from a single phase power source 2, operates a semiconductor as a constituent element, and controls the output voltage VS. When the single phase load 3 is an inductive load, the single phase load 6 is constituted of a capacitor. When the single phase load 3 is a capacitive load, the single phase load 6 is made inductive. The power factor of electric power system can be adjusted to be a desired value, by controlling a current I4 flowing in the adjusting apparatus 4, so as to correspond to the magnitude and the phase of a load current IL.
