<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording reproducing apparatus which can select wiping or polishing in accordance with the state of a magnetic head while a magnetic head cleaner occupies a small installation space. SOLUTION: In a helical scan magnetic recording reproducing apparatus using a rotary drum 1, a magnetic head cleaner 5 is provided which cleans a sliding face of a magnetic head 2 while keeping touch with the rotating magnetic head. Cleaning rollers 5a, 5b are set in a plurality of stages above and below the magnetic head cleaner 5. The cleaning rollers 5a, 5b have different wiping and polishing characteristics. Any of the plurality of cleaning rollers 5a, 5b is automatically selected in accordance with how much the sliding face of the magnetic head 2 is dirty.</p> |
