PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device by which input current strain can be improved and at the same time to which a plurality of types of discharge lamps having approximately equal rated lamp current and different rated lamp voltage are applicable namely it is possible to perform stable lighting. SOLUTION: Input current harmonic strain is improved by the relation of three voltage values among both end voltage Vc4 of a capacitor C4, both end voltage Vdc of a filter capacitor C, and a pulsating flow d.c. voltage Vin and high frequency operation of an inverted circuit constituted of switching elements Q1, Q2 and diodes D1, D2. The operational frequency of the switching elements Q1, Q2 is set to be higher than a resonance frequency of a resonance circuit constituted of a capacitor s2 and an inductance element L1 at the time of no load and not higher than the resonance frequency of a resonance circuit constituted of the capacitor 2, a capacitor 4, and the inductance L1 at the time of no load. |
