PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-radiating device with a high light utilization efficiency, which has a short arc lamp, highly reliable at the block portions. SOLUTION: A device has a pair of electrodes 20, 30 opposite to each other in a arc tube 11, discharge gas sealed therein, a short arc lamp provided with cylindrical block tubes 12, 13 at both ends of the arc tube and a concave reflecting mirror. One block tube 13 for the short arc lamp is extended to the opening end of the concave reflecting mirror. In this case, at least one block tube 13 for the short arc lamp is blocked by a blocked body 50 which is formed with an functionally gradient material molded of non-conductive powder and conductive powder, so that the block tube 13 for the short arc lamp extending to the opening end of the concave reflecting mirror can be shortened, to reduce the rate of light reflected from the concave reflecting mirror and injected into the block tube. |
