PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of problems caused by the structure such as the cracking, partial broken, separation or the like, of an intermediate transfer member, and to improve the transfer efficiency, by specifying the construction of a surface layer of the intermediate transfer member. SOLUTION: In an image forming device, an intermediate transfer member has a surface layer on an elastic layer, the surface layer includes 10-80weight%, to the total solid matter in the surface layer, of the lubricating particles, the distribution of the lubricating particles of the surface layer is within an extent represented by 3.0 >= amount of lubricating particles on surface of surface layer/amount of those inside of surface layer >=0.8, and the surface roughness of the intermediate transfer member is 0.1-3μm. The suffient amount of lubricating particles is exposed to the surface of the intermediate transfer member, and the distribution and the addition amount of the lubricating particles are adjusted to prevent the excess amount of the lubricating particles inside of the surface layer and on an interface kept into contact with the elastic layer, so that the high image quality, surface mold releasing characteristic, strength of the surface layer and adhesion can be obtained. The durability of the intermediate transfer member can be improved with the comparatively low cost.
